You've all seen a rainbow in your lives most likely, and gazed in awe at its beauty. But did you ever wonder what would happen if the rainbow shattered? No one in Sim Nation really had...no one had even thought it possible, for a rainbow was nothing but light reflecting off moisture in the atmosphere wasn't it? Not a something substantial that could be broken...until one day, one was, and one did. No one was really sure how it happened - how the rainbow took on form and then exploded in a cataclysmic event that was as beautiful as it was deadly and life-changing for many. Hundreds died in the initial blast, hundreds more died in a plague that came to be known as spectral poisoning that followed. Of those that remained, many were forever changed in strange ways. You see, somehow the colors of the rainbow had fused themselves with many of the sims in Sim Nation, turning their skin, eyes and hair brilliant hues that had never before been seen in sims. Oddly enough, families seemed to be affected together, with all members having the same hue changes done to them, perhaps because of proximity at the time of the blast. As the poison plague raged, many of these families fled for a remote valley nestled in hills far away from the site of what had come to be known as the Spectraclysm. Developers had already gone ahead, and built a nest of houses for those that were being called Spectrals, and these houses were quickly sold to several families of survivors. And it is with these survivors that we shall begin our tale, following them as they make a new life for themselves here in Spectrum Hills.
OOC: Spectrum Hills Prosperity is my attempt at the Prosperity Challenge for Sims 2. While I will stick as close as I can to the challenge rules, I will likely bend or ignore a few here and there along the way if necessary to suit my own ends. In setting up the neighborhood, I predetermined I wanted to start with 7 families, one for each color of the rainbow, but otherwise have created the families according to the challenge rules, rolling for all traits of the sims. I also made heavy use of the randomize feature in CAS when creating the sims, and none of them have been customized to any great extent in terms of facial features beyond what the dice or pacifier gave them. I also started with clean templates, and all townies have been either custom created in CAS then townified, or batch created with boolprop "cheats". I hope you enjoy the tales here, and comments are always welcome.
