Carmine - Introduction

After losing his wife in the Spectraclysm, Nelson Carmine had fled the contamination of their old home with his teenage daughter Claudia. Along with several other families, he brought them to Spectrum Hills and had a home built for them. By the time it was ready to move into enough time had passed that he and Claudia both felt they had escaped the spectral poisoning that had still been claiming lives. And so it was with happy hearts full of hope for the future that they arrived at their new home early one Monday morning. But no sooner had the taxi that had brought them pulled away and disappeared into the distance than Nelson felt the first stirrings of unease. He tried to ignore it as he and Claudia chatted out front of their new home, but then suddenly he felt his throat close off, and as he began to choke and gasp for breath they both realized the truth: Nelson hadn't escaped the poisoning after all.

Claudia could only stand helplessly by as her father gasped out his last breaths. He struggled valiantly against it, trying to hold on for his daughter's sake if nothing else, but within minutes the ghostly figure of the Grim Reaper was coming to claim him.

Claudia sobbed as she watched Grim take her father away, leaving behind only a tombstone for her to remember him by. She stared at it for several long moments as she slowly dried her eyes and contemplated her future now. They...she...still had money...she could make it on her own, at least for awhile. She'd have to. And so resolved, she slowly walked into the house to have a look around.
